Our Singing Technique will:
Flipping, cracking and breaking: There are several reasons for these vocal "road bumps". If your larynx rises the vocal cords may respond with a flipping or cracking sound and feeling.
Physically the vocal cords are separating momentarily. This may happen anywhere in your vocal range. If the vocal cords stay separated the sound is described as falsetto. It might feel like
a hole in your voice.
Your voice also has bridges you pass through as you sing up and down the vocal range. If you don't know how to sing through the bridges your voice can break, crack or disconnect.
Studying with SING Voice Studios will eliminate the breaks in your voice. The exercises we give you will stabilize your larynx and provide moderate cord closure throughout your range.
The bridges will become passage ways into new areas of your voice. You will enjoy a unified, connected and natural sound without flipping, cracking or breaking.
No Chest Voice: This is a common problem with young girls, some classically trained singers and choir singers. This is caused by too little cord closure or no vocal cord closure. The
result is a breathy or airy sound.
SING Voice Studios will teach you vocal exercises that help you maintain appropriate vocal cord connection. Whether you're singing high or low, loud or soft, in any style or genre,
you will have the volume you desire.
Voice "jams up" and "grabs" as pitch ascends. Nowhere is this more apparent than in the teenage boy whose voice has just changed. But it is common in all singers, male or female. Each
voice has bridges, multiple bridges in fact, sometimes referred to as a passage way or passaggio. Typically the first bridge for the male begins around the E Flat above middle C. For
the female it usually begins around the A Flat above middle C.
As the pitch ascends, the resonance travels up from your chest into your head. As it ascends the resonance begins to split, resonating out below the hard palate and above the soft palate. This
split resonance creates a sensation that makes you want to tighten your throat, or to disconnect into falsetto. It feels like you can't sing beyond that point. This is not true. You can sing
much higher!
SING Voice Studios will provide vocal exercises to develop your voice so you can sing through your bridges into an upper range you never thought possible. You will sing without disconnecting
from the chest resonance with a rich, full sound.
Limited vocal range. Every singer wants a strong and vibrant voice no matter what notes they are singing. SING Voice Studios will give you exercises that will balance your voice so whether you are singing in your low, middle or upper range, you will get the powerful sound you want. Your vocal cords will maintain a moderate connection, and your vocal range will increase. Typically, studying with SING Voice Studios will add many notes to both your upper and lower range.
Pitch: There are several reasons for pitch problems. Often new or inexperienced singers haven't trained themselves to listen for the pitch. This is easily addressed with voice lessons
and practice. Often the so-called "tin ear" isn't much more than lack of experience and practice.
However, for a more experienced singer to have a pitch problem is a different matter. This may be caused by the singer trying to manipulate the sound by reaching or pushing notes higher or
lower. It happens when someone is tightening or constricting their voices or trying other manipulations of the voice.
These problems are symptoms of a voice out of balance. SING Voice Studios will provide exercises that will help balance the voice so regardless of where the notes fall you can sing them
beautifully and on pitch.
There is no standard best age to begin voice lessons. All children develop interest and desire at different times. In children, as in all voices, care must be taken that strain is not part of their singing. Some techniques that teach a young child to belt out heavy singing can damage their voice. SING Voice Studios gives children (and adults) exercises to help them sing in a natural, relaxed way, back and forth over their bridges, taking care to keep strain far away from their voices.
SING Voice Studios will strengthen and improve your voice without changing your already great sound. We'll help you maintain a balanced and healthy voice for a lifetime of performing.
